Marry at Montestigliano: where dreams begin

Nature, tradition and the perfect location will build your wedding like a dream at Montestigliano: majestic rolling countryside, vineyards, ancient walled towns and architecture. Every apartment has easy access to some of the most beautiful countryside in Tuscany. With cypress avenues, olive groves, fig trees and ancient terraces it's an ideal location to walk and enjoy the countryside.

http://www.montestigliano.it/

"Our location is perfect to drive you in the most important day of your life.At the end of the 18th century, the first owners of the estate, the De Vecchi, an aristocratic family from Siena, built the first part of what is today the central property. Two other important aristocratic families followed. The Aldobrandini extended the estate with further farm buildings and the last owners before the Donati, the Vanni, who came from Florence, bought the whole estate at the beginnning of the 20th century, adding the main villa to the existing property. In 1953, Luigi Donati della Massa Trabaria, from the Le Marche region, was looking for an estate to buy somewhere in Italy. After a long search, he ended up at Montestigliano and fell in love with it immediately. Montestigliano became for him the property he had always wanted and a special place where he enjoyed many happy years at the end of his life.

In 1975, the property was passed on to Giancarlo Donati, his eldest son, who is the present owner. As Giancarlo, together with his children, began to manage the estate, they faced the difficult task of having to adjust quickly to the social and economic changes that have transformed Italy over the last few decades. Giancarlo Donati, together with Massimo, his eldest son, decided to pull out of the most labour-intensive activities, such as wine production and livestock breeding. Instead, they focused the farm on cereal production (wheat, sunflowers and maize), using mechanised techniques with a smaller labour force. In 1985, he saw the opportunity to transform the old farmhouses, which were by now uninhabited, into tourist accommodation, and so began a farmhouse with the help of his wife Maria Adriana Rossi, together with his two oldest daughters, Luisa and Virginia. The business grew rapidly in the years that followed and today involves the whole family, including the youngest children, Marta and Damiano."

La Primavera by Botticelli in Orvieto

The story is inspired by the famous painting Primavera.

The "Primavera" is one of a series of mythological works executed by Botticelli after his return from Rome in 1482. The painting was commissioned by a cousin of Lorenzo Medici, Lorenzo di Pierfrancesco, who was to become a faithful patron of Botticelli's work.

The picture celebrates the arrival of spring and is filled with mythological symbolism. Venus, Goddess of Love, is in the centre of an orange grove on her left Flora, Goddess of Flowers and Spring, appears clad in garlands of flowers. Next to Flora is the nymph Chloris, she is pursued by Zephyrus, God of Wind, who has a burning passion for her. The Roman poet Ovid describes Chloris as transforming into Flora, Goddess of Flowers, symbolising the beginning of spring, and Botticelli has placed both figures side by side within the same painting.

The Allegory of Spring is a very refined work of art. The naturalistic details of the meadow (there are hundreds of types of flowers), the skillful use of the color, the elegance of the figures and the poetry of the whole, have made this important and fascinating work celebrated all over the world.

Lucca in Tuscany

Lucca is enclosed by a majestic set of walls wide enough for strolling at sunset while admiring the incredible views of the Tuscan countryside.
Pedestrian friendly cobbled streets invite you to explore the narrow lanes, artisan shops and open air markets.
Lucca is a city to savor slowly, at every corner is a masterpiece of art and architecture from ancient Rome, the Renaissance and the 18th century.

Elegant Tuscan wedding on Villa Agape in Florence

Together with the planners + designers at Le Jour du Oui, Studio Mimosa we teamed up to design an editorial that captures that feeling – of Tuscany in the spring.

We were inspired by a wonderful Italian garden on the grounds of their venue (Villa Agape in Florence) with its cypress and olive trees that seemed to create the perfect backdrop for their bride and groom.

We chose romantic dresses, soft and ethereal the fabrics and timeless, classic hair + makeup. The goal was to craft a scene that was chic, but not too formal, using a color palette that was soft, romantic + oh-so-elegant.

In the amazing setting of Piazzale Michelangelo, a short walk from the scenic area of the Arcetri Observatory in Florence, stands the Art Hotel Villa Agape, former Villa Arrighetti owned by the Duchess of Aosta.

The Villa, thanks to this fortunate position, offers to its guests beautiful rooms furnished in Florentine style, decorated with unique panorama views.
The flagship is certainly the Italian-style garden, one of a kind in Florence.

In fact, along with prestigious guest rooms and spacious environments, the green areas that adorn the property are the pride of Hotel Villa Agape, unique corners filled with flowers and fountains in which spend unforgettable moments, or organize parties and events or to celebrate your wedding.

Villa Arrighetti, however, owes its entire and present magnificence to the Duchess Anne D'Orléans, widow of Amedeo Duke of Aosta, which bought in 1948 from Mrs. Royle Cladyf, daughter of George Macleam, and she adorned it with gardens, statues and fountains.

In a large area located between this Villa and Via Torre del Gallo, whic runs along the property, there is an abundance of green. Here there are two amazing magnolia trees that, together with the jasmin, covers the whole boundary wall, making the air sweet and scented. This landscape offers the visitors a delightful and attractive view.

In 1968 the Duchess Anne D'Orléans, was determined to leave Florence. As she wanted her Villa to be returned a religious community, she turned to the Right Reverend Father Vittorino Aldinucci to ask an advise. He was, at that rime, Abbot of San Miniato al Monte, the church where she used to attend the Holy Mass, every Sunday. The Abbot suggested her directy the Stabilite nella Carità Sisters.

So in that year Villa Arrighetti became the new house of the Stabilite nella Carità Sisters, and place for spiritual exercises, conferences, meeting, studying days, short or long periods to rest in solitude for physical and spiritual relaxing.

The nuns renamed the Villa in Villa Agape, from the Greek word meaning "banquet".

The sisters remained there until 2014, and 2015 Villa Agape, with a new management, has become a wonderful hotel in the hills of Florence, thanks to a big renewal its halls and rooms.

La Fiorita: The Flowering of Castelluccio di Norcia

Castelluccio di Norcia  with flower fields is a true miracle of nature.

The Sibillini Mountains  is located in Italy between the Marche and Umbria.

In the spring the extraordinary spectacle of Mother Nature begins. Each year, from the last days of May to mid-July, the flowering gives rise to an explosion of colors: all the fields of the Sibillini Mountains form a vast carpet of colorful flowers, the colors continually changing. The stunning view seems straight out of a fairy tale. A magical and enchanting landscape

Bold colors, beautiful geometry, stunning views and the feeling of a fairy tale ... Many times I've seen pictures of these color flower fields, but the reality still exceeded my expectations. There are fields of the cornflowers and poppies, daisies and wild orchids, as are plenty of other flowers whose names I do not even know. And the smell ... pure, delicate honey.

The charm of these places has always resulted in many fantasies in the minds of visitors and people who live there. By the end of the 14th century, they were portrayed as the land of necromancers, fairies and demons of all kinds.

According to the legend, in the III century BC priestess, prophetess Sibyl Kuman, preferring the silence, settled in a cave on the southern slope of the mountain.  The cave is located next to a small lake, and it is believed that the one who will stay there for more than a year become immortal and timeless, will always live in abundance and without troubles.

Locals always revered Sybil as a good fairy, whose entourage from time to time descended from the mountains to the village, and Sybil herself danced saltarello with the most beautiful guys. The story goes that one day during the holiday fairies forgot about the time and did not notice the approaching dawn. Rushing into the mountains, they began to climb the Monte Vettori and in a hurry just a few rocks crumbled into small pieces. Fortunately, the fairies had to go back into the cave before the sun rose, and a long rock fragments still called "Path Fay."

We were inspired by the beauty of Castelluccio di Norcia and legend of fairy Sybil.

Villa d'Este Tivoli

Best Photo Shoot Location in Italy

Villa d’Este, masterpiece of the Italian Garden, is included in the UNESCO world heritage list. With its impressive concentration of fountains, nymphs, grottoes, plays of water, and music, it constitutes a much-copied model for European gardens in the mannerist and baroque styles.

The garden is generally considered within the larger –and altogether extraordinary-- context of Tivoli itself: its landscape, art and history which includes the important ruins of ancient villas such as the Villa Adriana, as well as a zone rich in caves and waterfalls displaying the unending battle between water and stone.
